Fall into Art exhibits
Vibrant and powerful pieces of Latino art and stunning digital creations crafted from software and algorithms are on display as part of the two newest art displays at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
The La Peña Center is a Latino arts organization located in the heart of Austin since 1981, with an ongoing mission to support, develop and showcase traditional and contemporary Latino Art. The Austin Airport is honored to have been loaned a collection from the center of amazingly detailed and prominent pieces by six artists. Featuring the work of Cecilia Colomé, Marsha Gomez, Nivia Gonzales, Carlos Lowry, Fernando Muñoz and Liliana Wilson, the exhibit is currently on display in the West Airside Gallery.
Electric Dreams – An Exhibit of Digital Art, is a thought-provoking collection of art that is truly a reflection of Austin’s status of a technology hub. Located in the East Airside Gallery, the exhibit gives viewers an opportunity to dive into the imagination of three local Austin artists. Artists Leslie Kell, Chalda Maloff, Ph.D., and Paul McGuire have collaborated on this vibrant exhibition, and each have in their own way inverted the traditional model of art production, going beyond the use of brush and paint, using software and digital tools to create striking pieces of art.
